E03 Refresh Metadata

Goal: Update the five views deliberately.

Prerequisites: E01.

MANUAL: Run DataRaft: Refresh Metadata. Open Data Products, then inspect Quality, Runs, Freshness and Incidents individually. An empty view is valid when no corresponding evidence exists.

training_step(
  "E03",
  {
    print(dr_status(policy_run))
    print(dr_status(failed_run))
  },
  needs = c("E01", "H06"),
  enabled = training_options$gui,
  optional = TRUE
)

Expected result: An explicit refresh updates metadata and its timestamp.

Task: Change an R object. Are checks automatically rerun in the tree?

Show solution

No. Refresh again. Refresh itself does not execute quality checks.

E03a Inspect the Data Products view

Goal: Connect a tree entry to its definition.

Prerequisites: E03.

MANUAL: Expand policy_product and count its three contract columns.

Expected result: The tree matches the product definition.

Task: Which R run or lake version explains this entry?

Show solution

Compare the ID and status with the corresponding R result, then move to the next view without starting a run.

E03b Inspect the Quality view

Goal: Compare retained check evidence.

Prerequisites: E03.

MANUAL: Compare nonnegative for the valid and failed runs.

Expected result: Evidence reflects the selected run.

Task: Which run explains the failing rule?

Show solution

Compare IDs and statuses with the corresponding R results before moving to the next view.

E03c Inspect the Runs view

Goal: Distinguish execution states.

Prerequisites: E03.

MANUAL: Compare completed, blocked and, after lake exercises, published.

Expected result: States match the retained run results.

Task: Does completed always mean published?

Show solution

No. Compare the status with the actual R result and target behavior.

E03d Inspect the Freshness view

Goal: Read timing without inventing a deadline.

Prerequisites: E03.

MANUAL: Inspect the generation timestamp. Do not infer lateness without a configured deadline.

Expected result: Available freshness metadata.

Task: Does a recent timestamp prove good quality?

Show solution

No. Compare the metadata with the corresponding run; timeliness and quality are distinct.

E03e Inspect the Incidents view

Goal: Read a retained rule problem.

Prerequisites: E03.

MANUAL: Find the negative premium as a rule problem, not as an automatically deleted row.

Expected result: The incident matches the failed run evidence.

Task: Was the row automatically removed?

Show solution

No. Compare the rule action and result in R before continuing.
